Blood Test Appointments

You may be aware we have a large backlog of blood appointments at the moment. This means patients who urgently need bloods are unable to have them.

To help us manage appointments safely and efficiently, please note the following policy for blood tests:

Blood tests can only be booked if doctor or nurse has requested them.
– If you feel you need certain bloods taken, please make an appointment with your doctor or nurse first. Many treatments can be started without bloods.
– If your doctor has advised you to have bloods every 3 or 6 months, you may book these, but only when they are due.
– If you need blood tests in advance of a consultant or outpatient appointment, we are happy to try to help where possible. Please note that we cannot always guarantee availability for these requests. In some cases, it may be necessary to arrange the tests directly through the hospital phlebotomy department or requesting consultant.

We appreciate your cooperation in following this policy — it helps us ensure that everyone receives the right tests at the right time.
